What Are Crowns & Bridges?
Crowns and bridges are both restorative dental treatments that can help to restore the normal appearance and function of your smile.
They can fill the space left by missing teeth while helping you maintain your natural facial shape. They can also help return your ability to speak and chew properly.
By repairing structural problems such as damaged or missing teeth using a dental crown or bridge, our dentists can alter your smile's appearance – and preserve your oral health.
Dental Crowns
Dental crowns are hollow, artificial teeth that are placed over an entire decayed or damaged tooth to restore its original shape, size and colour. Dental crowns help strengthen and adjust the appearance of a broken tooth that may otherwise be lost.
Crowns are strong and can be made from a variety of materials, including porcelain and metal. They look and function like natural teeth, and can last 10 years or more if cared for properly.
Dental Bridges
A dental bridge is a natural-looking restoration that 'bridges' a gap of missing teeth in your mouth. Made up of one or more artificial teeth, the bridge is affixed to the teeth on either side of the gap to fill the space.
A bridge helps to prevent your other teeth from shifting positions to fill the space, which could lead to gum disease and other serious dental issues.
